theTurtleRoom will NEVER make your information available to third parties. Any information shared with us through site membership, tTR membership, or purchases on our shop will remain private. theTurtleRoom is secured with SSL through Comodo for the protection of your information.
Sales Tax is due on any purchase by a Pennsylvania resident. This applies to tTR Shop purchases and live turtle purchases. In the case this tax is not collected at the point of sale, the Buyer is responsible for including Use Tax for these purchases on their PA state tax return. Steve is registered in PA as theTurtleRoom.com and licensed to collect Sales Tax on Pennsylvania sales.
No returns on Bulk Food items. Any other tTR Shop products may be returned for full refund. However, the Buyer will pay shipping both ways. We offer multiple shipping services for your convenience. We consider our business day to end at 5PM ET. We will try to ship any orders paid for before 5PM ET the day after payment is received (however, we cannot guarantee this because tTR is not our full-time job). Most items in our shop can be shipped internationally.
tTR Shop Shipping
We will try to ship items as soon as possible. However, since this is not our full time job, sometimes it may take 2-3 days for an order to be shipped. In the case you choose USPS First-Class Package Service as your shipping option, we can guarantee your order to arrive. Any orders shipped by USPS Priority Mail (which includes our “Item Rate” service) will be covered with shipping insurance.
theTurtleRoom.com, its owner, and its staff are not liable for any errors during the construction of this rack or any injuries the builder may incur throughout the construction process. The builder/purchaser is wholly liable for any injuries to him/herself.
Turtle and Tortoise Sales
We personally guarantee every animal that is sold is healthy and in quality condition unless otherwise specified.Â Because of this, we offer a 5-day live guarantee* on animals picked up in person, and a live arrival guarantee* on shipped animals. All turtles come with a conditional 7-day outward health guarantee. We are not responsible for carrier delays, negligence or mishandling.
We take pride in our animals and want you to receive the best for your money. Our animals are guaranteed to be healthy. We will never intentionally offer an unhealthy or injured animal. Because some of the animals we work with are protected species in some areas, we will provide paperwork documenting the animal’s origin when necessary. The paperwork includes: Approximate date of birth, the Husbandry Specialist’s name, and a picture (or pictures) of the animal.
State and Federal Laws:
It is your responsibility to know your state laws.Â We will not knowingly violate state or federal laws.
Turtles under 4 inches are not intended to be pets as per FDA regulations.Â However, turtles under 4 inches can be sold for educational or scientific purposes (section D, number 1).Â They can also be sold between hobbyists (section D, number 2).
Payment can be done by any method through Paypal (credit card or bank transfer), money orders, or cash (reptile shows only).Â Sorry, but we do not accept personal checks. For orders over $300, 3% will be added to cover PayPal fees (the Husbandry Specialist you are purchasing your animal from may choose to add a 3% fee on any purchase). Nothing is considered sold until it is paid for and the funds have cleared in full. If you choose to pay by money order, you may want to consider sending payment via overnight service to ensure your payment arrives and your selected animal is still available when we receive your payment.
For a trade of animals, resources, the trade must be agreed to by both parties. The cost of shipping may be included in trade value. The Husbandry Specialist may ask you to sign a written document for records purposes, since there will be no invoice or receipt.
We use Next Day Air shipping through either UPS, FedEx, or Delta Dash for all shipping – most locations receive UPS and FedEx delivery by 10:30AM. You will be emailed a tracking number for your package at least 12 hours in advance. Shipping is done Monday-Wednesday only. We can also deliver the animals in person if there is a local show in our area. Shipping costs often run between $30-$100, but will ultimately be priced at the point-of-sale based on your zip code (distance traveled). The shipping price includes an insulated box and heat/cold pack depending upon the weather. We will not ship animals through bad weather, so know the forecast for your area. We can ship to your home or work address, a friend or neighbor’s address, or your local FedEx/UPS station.
Most of our Husbandry Specialists do NOT ship internationally.
Local pickup can be done at a reptile show the Husbandry Specialist is attending or a neutral location within 30 minutes driving time of the Husbandry Specialist’s location. You, as the customer saving on shipping, must make the longer travel to pickup an animal if not at a reptile show.
No Sales to Minors. Not all turtles can be reliably sexed at age and size of sale. Any temperature sexing will be the Husbandry Specialist’s decision. Temperature sexing is NOT a 100% guarantee. Not all species can be reliably sexed through incubation temperature or other means.
So we may continue to grow as breeders and continue providing quality animals, we ask that you keep in touch with us on the growth of your animal so we can track sex and other traits.Â If your animal would die or have health issues after the guarantee* expires, we will gladly work with you to discover reasons, and solutions.
*Guarantee Details and Exceptions:
*5-day live guarantee: Only for individuals picked up in person.* *Live-arrival guarantee: All animals guaranteed alive and outwardly healthy if signed for in person.* If you are not satisfied with your new turtle or tortoise, you can send it back for a replacement or refund within that time frame. However, you must provide reasons for dissatisfaction in the animal and will pay all shipping costs.Â For turtles or tortoises that may arrive dead after shipping, a picture must be taken and sent within two hours of receipt in order to be eligible for a refund.Â The above exceptions apply to the applicable live guarantees.
