This depends on the species. Please consult a care guide for the species in question. We have a number of care guides available in our Species Profiles Section. A commercial pellet is acceptable as a diet staple for many species of turtle and tortoise. For tortoises, especially hatchlings and juveniles, we soak the pellets in water for 60-90 seconds before feeding.

Hatchling Turtles (hatching to approx. 6 months): ZooMed Natural Aquatic Turtle Food – Hatchling Formula Mazuri Aquatic Turtle Diet (soaked before feeding so they can take bites)

Adult Turtles: Mazuri Aquatic Turtle Diet ZooMed Natural Aquatic Turtle Food – Maintenance Formula Aquamax Dense 4000 (for turtles with a largely herbivorous natural diet)
The manufacturer suggests the food is good for at least a year from the manufacturing date. We turn over our supply frequently enough that you should have a year from the date you receive your shipment.
Yes, you can freeze the food. If you freeze it right after receiving it, it should be good for about 10-12 months AFTER you remove it from the freezer. We ship food in “storage” grade bags, so you we suggest moving it to “freezer” grade bags before placing in your freezer.
No, we do not have import/export licenses and will not ship animals outside of the United States. No matter how often you ask, the answer will always be “NO”. However, most of the items in our shop can be shipped internationally.
We will hold turtles for 24 hours from when you receive your invoice for you to pay. If you have not paid in that 24 hours, your turtles will be free for anyone to purchase until you pay. After you pay, we will only hold your turtles up to 1 week until shipping.
