Green turtle rescued from fishing net poops out all kinds of human trash

A green turtle (Chelonia mydas), off the coast of Argentina in the Atlantic, was found trapped in a ghost net by Roberto Ubieta – a fisherman. The turtle was quickly taken to a rescue centre of the San Clemente Institution where veterinarians got to work aiding the trapped turtle. However, whilst rehabilitating this individual it was clear it had other health problems also. After a few days at the centre, the turtle started defecating trash! This included parts of plastic bags and bits of hard plastic. Turtles often mistake these bits of trash for food and ingest them. Plastic pollution, commonly single-use plastics, are one of the biggest problems facing marine turtles globally!
