Unprecedented Hospital To Remain A Haven For Sea Turtles From Around The World

Nestled in the middle of the Florida Keys is a small, little known city known as Marathon; however, this town has more importance than meets the eye. Unbeknownst to many, Marathon is home to The Turtle Hospital, a veterinary clinic which dedicates 100% of its efforts to the rehabilitation of injured and rescued sea turtles. Founded by Richie Moretti in 1986, the hospital also boasts the title of the world’s first strictly sea turtle focused medical clinic, and recently became a non-profit facility just this February. The hospital consists of multiple full-time technicians and veterinarians and approximately 1500 sea turtles have come through their doors over the years. The Turtle Hospital relies completely on their visitors and donations to support their vital work and the Marathon residents have been highly influential in the success of the facility as a whole. As the clinic continues to receive a variety of cases through its doors, they state that they have no plans of stopping and plan to be around for years to come.
